Book a free consultationWhat happens in the free 15-minute consultation?
It's a brief introductory call to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and explore whether we are a good fit to work together — and for you to learn about my therapy approach and what works best for you. There's no obligation to book further sessions.
Do you offer couples counselling?
Yes — couples counselling is my speciality. Sessions are available face-to-face in Bolton and Westhoughton, or online, where you can join together from home. Read how couples counselling works.
Do both partners need to attend couples counselling?
Couples counselling works best when you both attend. If your partner isn't ready yet, we can talk through the options in your free consultation — individual sessions can still help you explore the relationship and what you need.
What happens in the first session?
We'll spend the time getting to know each other. I'll ask a little about what's brought you to counselling and what you're hoping for, and you're welcome to ask me anything too. There's no pressure to have it all figured out beforehand.
How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually happen weekly, at the same time each week, though this can flex around what works for you.
Where do face-to-face sessions take place?
At my office at 1 Silverwell Lane, Bolton BL1 1QN. A Westhoughton location is now available too. Online sessions are available across the UK.
What therapeutic approach do you use?
My approach is rooted in Person-Centred values — warm, relational and collaborative — combining thoughtful reflection with practical, real-life insight. I also draw on psychoeducation, low-intensity interventions for anxiety and depression, motivational approaches and compassion-focused therapy, adapting to what's most useful for you.
Do I have to be religious for Christian-informed counselling?
Not at all. Faith is welcome in the therapy room if it matters to you, and never assumed if it doesn't. You decide how much, if at all, it features in our work.
Do you work with Employee Assistance Programmes?
Yes — I'm an EAP Associate Counsellor. If your employer offers an EAP, you may be able to access sessions through it. [Add any insurers/EAPs you work with]
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange; sessions cancelled with less notice may be charged in full.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. The only exception is if I become seriously concerned about your safety or someone else's — and even then, I'd always try to talk it through with you first wherever possible.
